The right unit for the right room
Wall-mount heads are the most common — easy to install, inexpensive, work great in most spaces. Ceiling cassettes (recessed) are cleaner-looking and ideal for conditioned offices, casitas, or any space where wall real estate is limited. Floor-mount units are useful in tall spaces or where high mounting isn't practical. Concealed ducted mini-splits combine a small ducted air handler with a mini-split condenser — useful for cooling several rooms from a single hidden unit.
Installation that won't fail in five years
Common mini-split install failures we get called to fix: line sets routed without proper traps (allowing oil to pool and starve the compressor), undersized line sets that restrict refrigerant flow, condensate lines run uphill (no drainage), heads installed in dead-air corners, and refrigerant 'gauged in' instead of weighed in (almost always undercharged).
We avoid all of those by following the manufacturer install manual line by line, vacuuming to under 500 microns, and weighing the refrigerant charge to spec.

Multi-zone systems require careful matching of head sizes to room loads. Oversized heads short-cycle, can't dehumidify, and run noisy. Undersized heads run constantly without keeping up. We do a per-room load calculation before recommending head sizes.
