Our installation process
First we visit your home. We measure square footage, check insulation levels, look at window orientation, count occupants, and inspect your existing duct system. That data feeds the Manual J calculation that tells us exactly how many BTUs of cooling and heating your home actually needs. Then we walk through the equipment options — usually two or three tiers from a brand that fits your budget — and provide a fixed written quote.
On install day we protect floors, remove the old equipment, set the new condenser on a fresh pad, braze the line set with nitrogen flowing, pull a deep vacuum (under 500 microns), weigh in the refrigerant charge by manufacturer spec, and start the system up while we're still there to verify performance. The whole job typically takes one day for a straight changeout.
Why proper sizing matters more than SEER
Two systems with the same SEER rating can perform completely differently in the same home if one is sized correctly and the other isn't. An oversized unit short-cycles — it cools the air to setpoint in a few minutes but never runs long enough to wring humidity out or distribute air evenly. The result is hot/cold rooms, sticky air, and a compressor that wears out years early.
We size to the load, not the catalog. That sometimes means recommending a smaller unit than what was there before, especially in homes that have had insulation or window upgrades.
